In September 1997, Hangzhou Jiuyuan Gene Engineering Co., Ltd. received New Drug Certificate from the Ministry of Health for the first Low Molecular Weight Heparin sodium (Proprietary name: Jipailin) in China. Currently, the expected annual production capacity is 500 kg in bulk and 10 million in finished ampoules.

[Description]
Jipailin, produced from porcine intestinal mucosal heparin by depolymerisation and fractionation, is a new antithrombolic agent. Its effective composition is low molecular weight heparin sodium whose mean molecular weight is about 4000. Chemically it is composed of fragments of glycoaminoglycan(heparin), sodium salt.

[Preparation]
Jipailin is a sterile, clear and colorless solution for s.c. or i.v. injection. It has five specifications: 2,500 antiXa-IU(1.0ml), 5,000 antiXa-IU(2.0ml), 3,000 antiXa-IU(0.3ml), 5,000 antiXa-IU(0.5ml) and 10,000 antiXa-IU(1.0ml).

[Indication]
Prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic disorders.

1. To prevent coagulation and inhibit thrombosis during extracorporeal circulation for patients with acute or chronic renal failure undergoing haemodialysis and haemofiltration;
2. Prophylaxis and treatment of deep vein thrombosis(DVT);
3. Treatment of coronary heart disease, unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction.
